The Cypress Tree

Under the old cypress tree, the wise Soroosh Gharahmanloo plucks his Setar. Next to him, his companion Thomas Noël releases some grooves on his keyboard. Together they reminisce about ‘The Tehran Sessions,’ with which they conquered both living rooms and festival stages with Eastern sounds, Western swing, and a sharp view of the big city.

In a nearby garden, they suddenly hear the vibe of a summer pool party. They recognize the sound: DJ Grazzhoppa is setting the beats there. The three men look at each other and nod: let’s go to the party together, let’s make this happen.

It results in ultimate fusion! Soroosh is at home in both progressive rock and traditional Persian music. Thomas effortlessly blends jazz, folk, rock, and blues. And since DJ Grazzhoppa won one DJ competition after another, he has been constantly seeking ways to enrich his sound and hip-hop rhythms with additional musicians and bands. Together, they make a pact: a dynamic trio with a solid plan and room for improvisation.
