Dia De Los Muertos '24

With Dia de los Muertos, we celebrate one of the most beautiful and vibrant traditions of Mexican culture, where death is seen as a continuation of life.

Special Guest Stevo Atambire !

For this ninth edition, an exeptional musical guest will join the celebration! Stevo Atambire is a funeral performer who travels through Northern Ghana on his motorbike to pay tribute to the deceased, helping family members say goodbye to their loved one.

The concert by Stevo is preceded by the musical road movie *Long Live the Dead* by Sofie Hanegreefs & Kris Pannecoucke.

 Funerals in Ghana are only held in the dry season and turn into true events, with wardancers, techno music, spectacle and vendors providing food and drinks to the visitors. 

The Day of the Dead is a celebration of life, where people learn to enjoy every moment and have no fear of death.  We do not commemorate the deceased, because - according to Mexican tradition - they are still present.  It is a celebration together with the deceased, not for them.

Nikanor is a musical project that seeks to redefine rich Peruvian and Latinoamerican musical traditions in a new urban context; Taking “Chicha” as a starting point, a style of tropical Andean music that was very popular in the 80´s, Nikanor re-discovers the ingredients that made this true fusion of rhythm, colors and melodies possible. It was created by migrant, working class men from rural areas who moved to the city searching for more opportunities in their lives.
