NİYAZİ KOYUNCU

Niyazi Koyuncu is een ´volks´vertolker van muziek uit het Zwarte Zeegebied in noordelijk Turkije.  Tijdens zijn studietijd liet hij als solist van de groep ´Seritana´ (Grieks voor ‘licht in de duisternis’) voor het eerst van zich horen.  Niyazi Koyuncu zingt niet alleen in het Turks maar ook in het Pontisch Grieks en Georgisch.  Zijn muziek heeft een positieve insteek waarbij de werkelijkheid van alle dag, maar vooral de vrijheid centraal staat.  Niyazi Koyuncu (zang), Murat Colak (gitaar & zang), Poyraz Kiliç (bas), Göksel Bektas (saxofoon & fluit), Emre Pehlivanlar (doedelzak & zang), Alper Bulut (kemenche) & Gökçe Dayanç (drums)

Niyazi Koyuncu is a popular interpreter of music from the Black Sea area in Northern Turkey. During his student days he was first noted as a soloist of the group ‘Seritana’ (Greek for “Light in the darkness”) . Niyazi Koyuncu does not only sing in Turkish, but also in Pontic Greek and Georgian.
