On Thursday, September 12, nine young curators will take over the basement hall of De Centrale in Ghent during EJC.

From September 12 to 15, 2024, Ghent will host the European Jazz Conference. VI.BE, JazzLab, Ha Concerts, and Europe Jazz Network, in collaboration with Music Center De Bijloke, are joining forces to welcome more than 400 professionals from 197 organizations and 36 countries to Ghent.

In 2024, Ghent holds the title of European Youth Capital. Therefore, EJC this year is entirely dedicated to youth, with the theme 'Tomorrow Comes Today.' In collaboration with De Centrale, EJN, in addition to the official showcase program, will give the stage to our young curators for one evening.

Young Curators Program

From the open call, nine passionate young programmers with a love for jazz were selected. Rutger Mathys, Stan Maris, Kobe Gregoir, Nele Uyttendaele, Ferre Heyvaerts, Ewout Janssens, Anton Robberechts, Warre Vanhoutte, and Joris Vanschoren will work together as a collective.

During the summer months, they will be immersed in a guidance program full of inspiration and will be showered with knowledge from experts. With all these valuable tips & tricks on programming, organizing, and promoting their own event, they will create an evening program to put promising Belgian jazz acts in the (inter)national spotlight.
