Noura Mint Seymali is a Mauritanian singer from the griot tradition, who combines her unique voice with a masterfull technique on the ardin; a 9-stringed harp only played by women. Allready at her 13 years she sang in the band of her famous stepmother Dimi Mint Abba and in 2004 she formed her own ensemble with husband and guitarist Jeiche Ould Chighaly. Live, Noura Mint Seymali serves a portion of irresistible, hypnotic desert blues. For fans of Bombino, Tinariwen, Group Doueh, ...

The night is opened by Xylouris White; The unlikely avant-garde folk duo consisting of Australian rock drummer Jim White (known for The Dirty Three, PJ Harvey and Nick Cave) and the Cretan lute player Giorgos Xylouris. Whoever had the chance to see Xylouris live, knows what to expect.
