WORD WA(a)R

Slam Poetry Night ∼ Rap Battle Show

Word Wa(a)r brings different 'rap battles’ between historical and hilarious figures. Different poets, slam poets, and rappers compete in a theatrical conflict. In multiple rounds they launch prepared texts at their opponents and the audience can judge and react. The medium is Dutch and the artists talk from an in advance decided hypothesis, like: President Obama vs. Vladimir Poetin, Pro vs. contra Cannabis, Atheïsm vs the voice of God, or Antwerp vs Ghent.  The display of literary and lyrical qualities and the entertainement of the audience is paramount.  It is ‘right in your face’ poetry with a humourous slant and critical overtones.
WORD WA(a)R was conceived and coordinated by Pieter Cools and Seckou Ouloguem for Akulte vzw with support of Het Vlaams Fonds voor de Letteren and Het Bos.

Artists: Pieter Cools, Seckou Ouologuem, Tom Driessen, Sascha Reunes, Simon Den Haerynck, Prisca Agnes Nishimwe, Manu Moreau and Martijn Nelen
