VIOLONS BARBARES

galloping rhythms and majestic throat singing

Violons Barbares  is a special meeting between three musicians from France, Bulgaria and Mongolia. The trio brings a refreshing mix of their respective rich musical traditions, both vocally as instrumentally. The used instrumentarium are the traditional Mongolian violin or morin khuur  and the Bulgarian gadulka, beside an almost infinitely rich array of percussion instruments. The biggest part of the compositions are traditional and take us on a journey around the world, on the back of the wild Mongolian steppehorse on the way to the more lighthearted soul of Bulgaria and France ( beside all imaginable places along the way). Sometimes the music almost sounds like rock ‘n roll, despite the use of seemingly fragile, acoustic instruments. At other moments, it is the purity of the traditional sounds that gets the full attention. Violons Barbarbares is - no matter what - a very succeeded and irresistible combination!
