SHOWTIME BALKAN CHOIR & ENSEMBLE

Music Ateliers Live

The end of the course year is slowly but surely approaching. It is time for the classic showcase events where students can present their musical achievements, whether it's their first time or not, on stage.

Ensembles (led by Wouter Vandenabeele and Hilde De Clercq) and the Balkan Choir (led by Galina Velikova) traditionally kick off these events.

With pleasure and enthusiasm (and possibly a bit of stage fright), they will present the results of a year of intensive plucking, drumming, bowing, and/or singing to family, friends, supporters, and other enthusiasts.

Come and listen, come and see!

Balkan Choir

The music repertoire of Central and Southeast Europe is the central theme of our Balkan Choir, featuring music from Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Romania, and more. Everything is approached and built up in an accessible way, with enjoyable dance rhythms and melodies forming the basis of the vocal material.

Ensembles

Playing together is an exciting and important aspect for every musician. Not only is it very fun to play together, but it is also highly educational and stimulates musical development. Making music together is therefore a significant part of our program. All music from folk, Arabic, Turkish to Balkan is covered. Traditionally, we also welcome Wouter Vandenabeele’s students from the DKO Sint-Niklaas.

We will close the evening with a spectacular jam session.
