SASJA LURJE & MINI BEÏGALE ORKESTRA

Klezmer, songs from the Ashkenazi diaspora and Yiddish Broadway

The klezmer fanfare Beïgalé Orkestra from France comes to De Centrale in a mini version, with 3 typical instruments that are typical of the Ashkenazi music: violin, clarinet and accordion. The quartet accompanies the singer Sasha Lurje from Riga (Latvia). Sasha Lurje is now one of the most prominent young female singers in the Yiddish repertoire. This repertoire varies from traditional Jewish klezmer from Eastern Europe to the popular American "Yiddish Broadway" genre. Of course, we know Violist Amit Weisberger from 'Fiddlers on the Move'.
