RACHELE ANDRIOLI & ROCCO NIGRO

Maletiempu

They come all the way from the heel of the boot of Italy: : Rachele Andrioli & Rocco Nigro. The traditional melodies from the Salento region are translated to their own personal, contemporary sounds.
Rachele Andrioli and Rocco Nigro  present their repertory on an original way, by providing popular refrains from the South Italian region of Salento (the heel of the Italian boot) with a contemporary personal musical dimension. The journey begins with traditional music from the south of Italy, crosses the repertoire of both world stars and Domenico Modugno as previously known in Italy (but not less fascinating) as Gabriella Ferri (family of?) And continues towards other southern horizons in the melancholic company of the late Edith Piaf, Amalia Rodriguez, Chavela Vargas and Cesaria Evora.  Rachele Andrioli provides the Italian warmth and emotion with her poignant voice that goes perfectly with the intensity and virtuosity of Rocco Nigro's accordion.
The duo has already released three albums: Maliè (2014), Maldimè (2015) and Maletiempu (June 2018)
Expect a southern musical fairy tale where the warm sounds and rhythms will undoubtedly make you long for an endless summer along  the beaches of the Ionian and Adriatic Sea.
(Rachele Andrioli and Rocco Nigro were already in Ghent on 16 September 2017 as part of OdeGand)
