RABIH ABOU-KHALIL TRIO

The fantasmagoric oed

The Lebanese oed player and composer Rabih Abou-Khalil grew up in the cosmopolitan Beirut of the 60s and 70s. After the outbreak of the civil war he moved to Europe in 1978, pending between Germany and France. Together with, among others, Anouar Brahem, he introduces the classic Arab oed in contemporary jazz. In ever virtuoso fashion, in the company of the finest (jazz) musicians - and once in a while with a string quartet, an Armenian choir, a full symphonic orchestra or a magisterial fado singer - he seamlessly merges the Eastern and Western musical traditions. From European classic over refined Arabic lyricism to the most outrageous jazz improvisations and for the attentive listener now and then even a touch of fiery "rock 'n roll".
With its impressive musical journey - spread over 3 decades, with countless live concerts and no less than 20 CDs - this charming Lebanese has established himself more than ever as one of the most visionary musicians in the Middle East. For this concert, Rabih will be accompanied by 2 born artists, with whom he has worked together for 10 and 15 years respectively, Luciano Biondini on accordion and Jarrod Cagwin on percussion & drum. An exceptional artist and an equally exceptional trio to keep rediscovering ...
Six years after "Hungry People" there is finally a new album at stake. But when exactly it will be released and what will it be called?? Therefore we still need to wait a little longer. With Rabih Abou-Khalil a lilltle bit of mystery is always just around the corner…Just ask the fish…
