KAMAO QUARTET FT. TCHA LIMBERGER

The hottest London scene hot jazz and swing mixes with magical gypsy ballads

Traditional manouche songs, Django Reinhardt classics, jazz songs, a sprinkle of Brazilian Choro music and originals. Kamao means “I like/I love/I want” in Romani dialect.

Fronted since 2014 by French singer/guitarist/composer Jean de Talhouet, the band includes clarinet (Dave Schulman), guitars (Dave Kelbie) and double bass (Ruth Goller), creating a beautiful and rich sound that complements the vocals with haunting and lyrical harmonies.

Their repertoire ranges from hot swinging jazz featuring captivating virtuoso improvisations, to the saddest gypsy ballads and the liveliest waltzes, as well as personal compositions. Kamao Quartet are regulars on the London scene and elsewhere in Britain, including the Vortex Jazz Club, St James Theatre in Victoria, the Royal Albert Hall, the Green Note, Sands Films, the Quecumbar.

Tcha Limberger is the son of guitarist Vivi Limberger (Waso Quartet) and grandson of violinist Piotto Limberger, both well-known figures in the gypsy jazz genre. Tcha, a spectacular multi-instrumentalist, known as much for enchanting performances with his Budapest Gypsy Orchestra and Kalotaszeg Trio, as he is for being the world’s greatest gypsy jazz violinist, is an unstoppable force in the world of world, folk and jazz music.
