Jaouad “Messias”

A unique debut dedicated to loss and conviction

Multidisciplinary artist and activist Jaouad Alloul builds bridges between the various identities he has. The theater maker-musician likes to play the themes of gender and religion and does not avoid controversy at all.

As a theater maker, he made himself known with committed productions such as Zeemeermin, #Messias and The Girl. His debut EP was released in 2019.  The single 'Hard To Love' was picked up by several radio stations and the successors also found an audience that loves Jaouad's funky and soulful style.

His first album Messias is characterized by a combination of spontaneous inventions and melodies that wriggle their way to the ears. But above all it is an album with a message.  After he turned his back on islam in his early twenties, Jaouad continued to look for answers. The intimate interplay of questions and answers throughout Jaouad's life forms the backbone of the album.
