Jan Daelman & Nils Vermeulen // Christian Mendoza & Heleen Van Haegenborgh

Nils Vermeulen got in touch with the contra bass when he studied instrument construction at the conservatory in Ghent, so we read in his biography. In the meantime he played with, and was taught by our best bass players. Together with flute player Jan Daelman, pianist Thijs Troch and drummer Elias Devoldere they are Kabas. Their album “Abel” (released in April) was received very well.
The 2nd part of this double concert is a quatre-mains presentation by Christian Mendoza en Heleen Van Haegenborgh. On request of Drongense festival ‘Muziek in de Kleurfabriek’, the two went and sat down behind the keys together for the first time in the summer of 2015. Kurtágs Bach adaptation formed the starting point. This music seemed top lease them as a duo and to inspire them for makin common compositions.
