JAMAICAN JAZZ ORCHESTRA + SEEKAMAN + DJ Jah Shakespear

COULD YOU BE LOVED - A TRIBUTE TO BOB MARLEY

Under the direction of guitarist / composer Wouter Rosseel, the instrumental big band Jamaican Jazz Orchestra goes with a series of painstaking jazz artists in search of the 'sweetspot' where reggae and jazz meet. Jazz with a reggae attitude. Their album Encounters was also praised in the press and last summer they threw big eyes on the stage of St-Jacobs at the Gentse Feesten with a lot of new material.  Also this time you can expect new songs ... a taste for what will come (later) on this year.
The Gents-Ghanaian Reggae band Seekaman closes the evening with their famous mix of Reggae, African Highlife and Soukous.

The Jamaican pop icon Bob Marley became world famous and introduced reggae to the general public. With his band The Wailers he released several albums in the course of the 70s and scored many hits including 'I Shot The Sheriff' and 'No Woman, No Cry'. On May 11, 1981, he died of the consequences of cancer. A year before his death, the album Uprising came out, including his latest world hits 'Could You Be Loved' and 'Redemption Song'
