That the Iraqi-American trumpet player Amir ElSaffar succeeds better than anyone in bringing together the traditions from the Middle East with modern jazz, he already proved in Ghent with his Two Rivers Ensemble.
For Rivers Of Sound, he extends that band to a seventeen-strong occupation, with musicians who all bring a broad, and sometimes very different baggage. This will be a transcultural exercise on the interface between traditions, periods and cultures. The ultimate final destination is a musical rapture that blurs boundaries. Not only between styles, but also between people. Do not miss the Belgian major act Fabrizio Cassol (Aka Moon)!
