Arab Women Artists Now - National Women's Day

AWAN stands for Arab Women Artists Now and wants to provide a platform for beginner and more established female artists from the Arab world and the diaspora. Progressive and more traditional voices, in all disciplines, are addressed in a dual program. The afternoon consists of an interactive, dynamic set of performances, short films, discussions with artists, discussions on various themes (self-censorship, labeling, empowerment, imaging, etc.). In the evening, we bring a festive program of music, dance and DJs. AWAN was launched by Arts Canteen (London) in 2015, where a fourth edition will take place in March 2018. 2:00 PM Interviews and round table conversations in Dutch with Samira Bendadi (moderate, Mo Magazine, BE), Yasmin Holail (musician, BE), Shirin Rabi (hiphop, BE), Makoto Calli (visual artist, BE), interrupted by work by Samira Saleh (spoken word, BE), Aya Sabi (writer, BE) and Laila Samy (filmmaker, Egypt)

4:00 PM Interviews and round table conversations in English with Rachida Aziz (Le Space, activist, BE), Lizzy Vartanian Collier (curator, UK), Laila Samy, Shadia Mansour (hiphop, Palestine), interrupted by work by Hannah Khalil (playwriter, IRL/PAL) and Razan Hassan (performance, Syria)

7:30 PM Concerts, dance and DJs With ShiSha (hiphop, BE) Shadia Mansour (Hip Hop, Palestine), Watan Dabke Group (dance, BE), DJ Sadziky (BE)
